I crocheted… Big Girl Bonnets a long time ago

While cleaning up behind the scenes, I found some drafts of personal projects I never got around to sharing on the blog. I’m going to share them little by little because for the most part, they are projects I loved.

Let’s start with this one. The Big Girl Bonnet, a free pattern written by Karla Rae. Based on the photos of Eliane, these hat are about 5 years old=)

As you can see… I quite liked this pattern!

Details (click the colour to see the project on Ravelry):

Orange:

Yarn: Red Heart soft Touch

Hook: G – 4 mm

Variegateds:

Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton

Hook: G – 4 mm

Violet:

Yarn: Bernat Alpaca Natural Blends

Hook: I – 5,5mm

Notes:

I love this hat pattern! It’s easy yet complex and perfect.  You do have to know that with worsted yarn and a 4mm hook, the result is a wee bit small – perfect for a preteen or an adult with a smaller head than my gigantic noggin.  I’d say to try a 4.5 or 5mm hook.
I went overboard when I made the purple, using a 5.5mm – and the hat is way too big.  I still wear it all winter because it is darn pretty.
