Featured fiber artist: Shelby of eWoodStory

I am quite fortunate to have in my life a LOT of crochet designers & other avid crocheters, yarn addicts, and creative people. I believe that we all have a space in the crochet world, and as such, I want to introduce you to them.

This week I have something super special for you: eWoodStory. Generally, this product is not available to international buyers, but from July 1 to August 21 it will be (!), and you will not want to miss the window! eWoodStory is husband and wife team Emad & Shelby, herself a well-known crochet designer.

eWoodStory‘s wooden pendants are created for people to stitch their own creations into. The Nouveau Necklace and Blossom bracelet designs offer a kit option, but the necklace frames are also available separately for those who want to design their own necklace backgrounds. Check out the inspirational online galleries with photos of pendants that have been created by Shelby, Emad, and their customers:
You can also check out their featured artist series, featuring artists of different mediums who have created pendants for eWoodStory. Or check out eWoodStory‘s Instagram. The couple’s mission is to inspire people and connect those who are interested in the work of artists of different mediums, to the artists themselves.

eWoodStory is husband and wife duo, Emad & Shelby. Shelby has this to say about how they began working together:

My husband Emad and I started working together when he left his job in the military to pursue his love of woodworking. We spent a lot of time talking about his woodworking and my crochet design, and we tried to think of a way to combine the two. I had always wanted to design crochet kits, and I wanted them to be unique. So we came up with the idea to make wooden items that can be stitched, and crochet kits with wooden elements. We started our business eWoodStory, in April of 2014.

Shelby has lived in Kuwait since 1997. You won’t be surprised to learn that social media got their project off the ground!

I have been in Kuwait since 1997, and I believe that Kuwait is really emerging as a creative center for the region. It is an exciting place to work as a designer. People are receptive to new ideas, and through social media we are able to easily share our work with a large audience. We really owe the start of business to Instagram. It gave us a great platform to show our work, get feedback, and connect with people who are interested in our products.

What’s next for eWoodStory?

Emad and I are focusing on putting out some new kits and items for the eWoodStory line. We produce kits that include English and Arabic instructions along with full stitch diagrams, and we believe that they may be the only kits of their type in the market with instructions in Arabic. We would like to expand our market to other countries in the Middle East, and beyond.

Guys, I can’t stress this enough: do not miss the international ordering window! Everything is in my cart right now, ready to be confirmed as soon as shipping opens up!

eWoodStory – international orders between July 1 and August 21.

Julie xx
