Well well well. Something new came in the mail recently, and I am super excited to tell you about it. At this point, you’ve read the title so you know what’s up, but still: KnitCrate has an eco-crate =) Yay!
Why is it eco-friendly? Glad you asked.
- Shipped in an Earth-friendly biodegradable and compostable mailer made of cornstarch!
- Inspirations Magazine offered as a digital download, with a postcard printed on recycled paper.
- Carbon-offset on shipping.
- Ecofriendly partnerships, such as with One Tree Planted in October, a non-profit dedicated to global reforestation.
The theme for the 1st ecocrate was Nudesse – neutrals for everyone =) And I loooove mine.
The Yarn this month is URU.YARN Chonk, an ultra-fluffy air spun blend of 82% Merino Wool and 18% Peruvian Pima Cotton. IT IS SOOOOO SOFT. Each super bulky skein gives you 109 yds (100 m). I already know what I’m making with mine. Just you wait. Each crate includes 2 full skeins.
My crate also included a beautiful stitch marker featuring the tiniest skein of yarn (you can see it in the above photo. Very cute.
As always, I received both a Crochet pattern and a Knitting pattern in my membership crate crochet pattern is the Overcast cowl (top left) looks so very cozy =) It’s by Melissa of Woods and Wool and I can see it becoming a favorite for this time of year.
You’ll also see, in the photo gallery below, the 2 other colours of URU Chonk yarn that were sent to subscribers (top right). All delicious options, don’t you think?
Another subscription option is the sock crate
I’m going to make an exception here to talk about the knit sock pattern because it’s just… wow. I love love love these Twist Socks (bottom left) by Lauren of Seraphym Fibres. That twist is ah-mazing. The crochet sock pattern (bottom right) is by designer Rohn Strong, a sock genius =)
As you can see, I absolutely love receiving this happy mail each month.
