Wool & the Gang’s new yarn is vegan!

…and NOT acrylic!

Clara (of Wool and the Gang) e-mailed me a few weeks ago about a new yarn they were launching: Tine Tape Yarn. She wanted to know if I’d like to play with it (!!) and of course I did.

I love yarn mail. It’s the very best sort of mail.

As always, Wool and the Gang‘s packaging is awesome.

As you can see below, I received a variety of colours – Clara is good at sending me things I would not necessarily pick, but that I instantly fall in love with. The colours here are super soft and muted, perfect for the feel of this very different type of fiber. There are a couple more vibrant options available as well.

You can see that Tina is basically a flat tape, almost like crocheting with fabric – very thin fabric. I got to work right away, with different sized hooks, to see which stitches looked best. Contrary to other tape yarns I’ve used before, this one really is very smooth to work with. It feels ideal for a sumptuous wrap, cardigan, summer top… anything you’d want to wear close to your body. I’ll show you more pictures as I get further along =) Something fun this way comes!

Now the good stuff for the environment!

From the website:

Tina Tape Yarn is 100% vegan, uses no harmful chemicals and saves water. This 0.5cm flat tape is softer than silk and cooler than linen. It’s super soft to work with, perfect for tops, dresses and sweaters.

Tina Tape Yarn uses renewable energy and is made of fibre from sustainably sourced eucalyptus trees.

Tina Tape Yarn Lyocell fibre is manufactured by Lenzing fibres in a closed-loop system, which means resources like water and solvents get reused instead of ending up as pollution and waste.

Pretty awesome!

Head on over to my Facebook group (or back to it if that’s where you came from)! You could win some of your own Tina Tape Yarn from Wool and the gang to play with!
