Gnome family of stockings, free crochet pattern

When Christmas and the holiday season approaches, it’s only natural to hide in the couch with our yarn and hook to create gifts and decorations. That’s why I’m sharing this basic pattern for a festive Christmas stocking for free right here!

I love these Christmas stockings in the colors of my beautiful Gnome hook! You can adjust the colors to match your own decor, of course!

Fill them with little treats and goodies to unwrap before Christmas Eve!

Special stitches

At Toe and Heel, for a denser stitch, work single crochet as follows:

Insert hook in indicated st, yarn under and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Generally speaking, in crochet we yarn over. For denser stitches, amigurumi makers often use this yarn under variation.

Yarn over: Wrap the yarn around the hook from the back and down.
Yarn under: Wrap the yarn around the hook from the front and up.
