PERFECT RUSTIC SLIPPERS, designed by ACCROchet (c) 2016

Perfect rustic slippers

Ingredients:

100g / 200g – Worsted weight yarn. (Used here: Vanna’s Choice Solids – 170 yds / 156 m – 100% Premium Acrylic)
4.5 mm hook

Yarn needle & stitch markers

Available sizes:

Child, Adult
Easily adjustable for length to fit a variety of feet – this is explained in the Sole section.

Gauge:

Unstretched cuff section should be — Child: 7” (17.5 cm) around x 3.5” (9 cm) high; Adult: 10” (25 cm) around x 3.5” (9 cm) high.

Notes:
If you want to make these in more than 1 colour, as I did for the adult size, simply change colours at the end of rows, as you wish. Work over ends to minimize finishing!

Slippers are worked in rows, creating one long rectangular piece that is seamed during finishing.

Stitches used:
Fdc (foundation double crochet), ch (chain), sc (single crochet), dc (double crochet), blo (back loop only), fpdc (front post double crochet), bpdc (back post double crochet), sl st (slip stitch).

Special stitch:

1st dc: without chaining 1, sc in 1st st, ch 2.

Instructions:

Rows 17-21 / 21-29: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st st (increase), sc across. Turn. (13 / 19 sts after last row)

Section 3 – Sole
After you’ve complete your 1st pair of slippers, you’ll be able to use them as a template for sizing up or down for different feet.

If you want to make the slippers longer or shorter, add or remove rows here, in sets of 2. (You will want to work an even number of rows regardless of size in order for the rest of the pattern to work).

Every +2 or -2 rows will add or substract 1 cm to finished size. Remember that back loop sc makes for very stretchable fabric!

Mark your changes: you will work the same number of + / – rows when working top of foot later.

Rows 22-31 / 30-49: Ch 1, sc blo across. Turn.

Section 4 – Toes

Row 32 / 50: Ch 1, sc across. Turn.
Rows 33-34 / 51-54: Ch 1, sc 2 together (decrease) over 1st & 2nd st, sc across to last 2, sc 2 together (decrease) over last 2. Turn. (9 / 11 sts after last row)
Row 35 / 55: Ch 1, sc across. Turn.
Rows 36-37 / 56-59: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st st (increase), sc across to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (13 / 19 sts after last row)

Section 5 – Top of foot

Rows 38-47 / 60-79: Ch 1, sc blo across. Turn.

Section 6 – Front of leg & cuff

Row 48 / 80: 1st dc in 1st st, dc across. Turn.
Row 49 / 81: 1st dc in 1st st, *fpdc around next 2 sts, dc in next. Repeat from * across, ending last repeat with dc in last st. Turn. (13 / 19 sts)
Row 50 / 82: 1st dc in 1st st, *bpdc around next 2 sts, dc in next. Repeat from * across, ending last repeat with dc in last st. Turn.

Rows 52-53 / 84-85: Ch 1, sc across. Turn.
